Oh my gosh, I loved this book. Here are the values I try to live by. This is what I taught my children. The Magic Tunnel is a futuristic right of passage. It is a place where children on the threshold of adolescence travel so that they might learn some valuable lessons about life and about how the way in which we live our lives impacts ourselves as well as everyone and everything around us.
But, somehow Janelle, our heroine, ends up in the tunnel at the tender age of 6. Will she prevail? Well she is the heroine. So, I loved the book, but how would a child feel about it? To test this out I read it to my 8 year old grandson, Dylan, during his recent visit. Every night we curled up together and entered the magical world this author has created and we both loved it. During our journey through The Magic Tunnel we found out that our actions always cause a reaction, that in the end the world in a very forgiving place, that when we sincerely search for answers they will appear, that our thoughts and words are powerful tools of intention and that what we desire most is right there waiting for us to discover it. Dylan fell in love with this magical place. Yes, the book tells a story, but what the author has truly created is a place where challenging and wondrous events take place and valuable lessons are learned. It's a place I hope you will explore soon. Take a beloved child along on this adventure with you.
“Although an act of help done timely, might be small in nature, it is truly larger than the world itself”
