Over the years, giving wall calendars, as Christmas gifts has been a fun task. What has evolved is asking my friends and loved ones: “Do you still wish to receive a wall calendar this year?” AND, if the answer is yes, I follow by query: “And, what subject/theme would you like this year?” I do this because if a person is going to be looking at a calendar all year, may it be something that gives them enjoyment.
I love the fact that the quality in a relationship is so that I can ask these questions and receive a truthful answer. And, if the answer is ‘Not this year.’ No problem!
I start my quest to find the perfect calendar for each person early in September or October. And, it seems shopping on-line provides me with an array of choices. However, from time to time, I run across a calendar that is not available on the subject the person has picked. Of which another choice needs to be made.
Being homeless these past few years, I got out of the habit of ordering a wall calendar for myself by not having walls or a room to post one. So, I had to settle for one that fit in my purse.
This year when the calendar shopping was completed, I realized (since I now have a room and walls to have a calendar) that I had not ordered one for myself. Oh well.
In the mail recently was a large brown envelope from a charity that I have supported in the past. I opened it and, there was a calendar! Not just any calendar but an Old Farmer’s Almanac GARDENING calendar. What a joyful reference tool for planting by the month next year.
It was more than just a wall calendar because receiving it was a sign. A sign of conformation, that I would be using it, in more ways than just a wall calendar. Indeed, a sign to use it for my lovely cottage on acreage, which is on its way. And when I look at my 2016 calendar, I am smiling… cause I believe!
So, make a wish and watch for signs to show up!
May all your wishes come true just for you.
