My washer died. I am still checking on repairing it but so far, it does not look too plausible. Oh, well back to the Laundromat.
Going to a Laundromat has provided me some pretty amazing life lessons. Case in point. My first experience using a Laundromat I was very young, recently divorced, had loss my career job, my car reposesed (with only two payments left UGH!).
So here I am walking at night in the Hollywood district, Portland Or. returning from the Laundromat and
carrying a duffel bag over my shoulder with my laundry done. I am pleased to have a bag full of clean clothes.
However, I was really tired of walking everywhere, having no car to carry clothes and such, and now I just wanted to get home.
Well the straw that broke me: it started to pour down rain. The clean, dry clothes in the cotton duffel bag
became very heavy because they are now soaking wet…once again.
“That’s it! I am fricken done! I am outta here. You hear God, I am done!” I can’t take any more… I screamed
into dark sky. The next car that comes down this road I am “accidentally” slipping off the curb. You hear me?”
I did think about the possibility that this event may break something instead of doing me in. Well, I’m doing it
anyway; I slowed my pace as car headlights approach. I worked my way over to the curb and brace my foot on the edge… prepared to meet my maker.
Ah, what the hell? The car turns abruptly left at the corner of the street right before it reaches me!
I was in shock. However, I did burst out laughing with a derogatory remark, “Geez,I can’t even do that right.”
Then it hit me. No, not the car…reality! Wait a minute. I could take this as a sign from God that I am suppose
to stick around. Okay, FINE I get it!”
So, keep on keeping on. And, I did just that.
Remember you are loved!
