My mornings continue to be filled with joy as I head outside to the porch where a host of different type birds are lined up in anticipation of my arrival. I have jokingly commented that it is as if I can see them standing there with their hands on their hips waiting to be served. They seem to KNOW the timetable for food arriving.
Zen runs out to the lawn area and no matter what type condition the lawn is in, that being with, soaked in rain, snow, or frost he always flips over with all four legs in the air and wiggles and shimmies his body across the grass. It is pure fun to watch. He then leaves for bathroom duties, while I observe, at all times, where he is. All I have to say is “NO” if he heads off to an uncharted area and he returns immediately. A well-trained dog: rocks!
I put out black sunflower seed in a feeder for my favorite bird: the Chickadee. They are so shy and polite; they always take the seed away to munch on in a tree or such. And their call/song is delightful to my ears.
Benny and Joon arrive (mourning doves) and the blue jays.
Chip the chipmunk is back. He held up during the winter and he now scurries to the seed.
We have a new member of the menagerie, a Banana slug. Of course, I have named him “Banana” and this morning he had moved to lay outstretched on the bench. I gently put seed down in front of him and managed to get a video of him munching it down. Hope it turns out.
For those of you who might think I have "went around the bend" rest assured that connecting with nature, as I do, gives me peace and joy. Isn’t that what life is all about finding what makes us happy?
Enjoy your life!
